If you've followed me for awhile, you're probably aware that I'm a huuuuuuge fan of the 1991 Dark Shadows revival. I watched it breathlessly every week the winter I turned twelve, recorded every episode so I could watch 'em over and over, purchased all the episodes from MPI, and was gifted the series on DVD back in the mid-2000s. Those of you who own that set are probably aware that there were a LOT of booboos, including a somewhat puzzling reversal of the day-for-night effect, so it often appears that Barnabas is snarling in the California sunlight.
But ... good news! According to the Dark Shadows News Page:
"Good news, the 1991 #DarkShadows revival series is currently being restored in 4K resolution from the original 35mm camera negatives. The project was announced at the recent Los Angeles Dark Shadows 60th Anniversary event and is being overseen by Darren Gross at Amazon MGM Studios.
The new masters will reinstate the correct day-for-night tinting (left off later transfers) and will also include extended versions of the feature-length pilot, Episode 3 and Episode 12. The restored series is set to be released on Blu-ray and should later become available via streaming platforms."
Excited does not begin to describe my state of being right now.
