LOVED John Karlen, I have been watching the DS early episodes all over again on tubitv.com, and I am SO impressed by Karlen's acting skills. And not to forget Jonathan Frid's great portrayal of Barnabas, there is just NO ONE else who could possibly play the part as he did, along with the wonderful Grayson Hall - she was a PLEASURE to watch, in her agonized feelings for the vampire. The writers must have been the greatest on the planet, their plot lines were incredible! And the sets were just out of this world, especially the creepy Old House & that mausoleum at Eagle Hill Cemetery - what a fantastic story that was, with the hidden room behind the wall. When I watch DS now, I can see just why DS took on a life of its own!!
