Dark Shadows 2012
I can't believe that it's been four years since I went to see Tim Burton's Dark Shadows feature the day of my brother-in-law's wedding. I'm actually going to show it during a Tim Burton film study I'll have my advanced theatre class perform next fall; I realize that it's divisive among fans, which is one of the aspects I want my students to consider during their analysis. There's a book of essays about Burton's work that came out this past Christmas that contains an interesting article about the 2012 Dark Shadows that I'm going to require them to read.

Dark Shadows, In the Year 1968 ... (More Warren Oddsson Illustrations!)
I really love these pictures from the 1968 Dark Shadows Concordance Volumes 1 and 2.
Willie kidnaps Maggie, who remembers that Barnabas is a kidnapping vampire necrophile, while Adam threatens Vicki, who's used to it by now.
Jeff Clark tries to use Vampire Angelique to bring Eve to life, with predictable results.
Nicholas sacrifices Maggie on the black altar, while spooky demon hands reach for her from the Netherworld.
Cassandra torments Elizabeth long after she has any reason to.

Cassandra and Nicholas by Oddsson
From the Dark Shadows Concordance 1968 Volume 1. Beautiful illos by Warren Oddsson of Cassandra in various stages of torment by her fellow magical practitioner, Nicholas Blair. I'm particularly enamored of the one depicting Nicholas summoning Cassandra back from the netherworld, since its based on my favorite Dark Shadows photo of all time.
