A huge turning point for the series: a character essential to the history of Dark Shadows since the second episode, first only mentioned, then embodied (so to speak) in the ectoplasmic flesh, finally appears, three hundred and sixty-nine episodes after Vicki's arrival in Collinsport. And what an entrance! Kathryn Leigh Scott never looked lovelier, completely embodying the sweetness (that somehow never becomes cloying) that is such a hallmark of Josette's character. Which brings us to Angelique. Oh, Angelique. Lara Parker uses the full power of those magnificent eyes for the first time in glorious color as she seeks to flash-fry Barnabas and Josette mid-embrace. With this episode, the 1795 flashback really jumps into high gear as Angelique chokes the hell out of doll-baby Barnabas. Sorry, toy soldier Barnabas. I suppose little boys of the 18th century hated to have their action figures referred to as dolls as much as their modern counterparts. Babies.
"I'll always be much closer to you than you think."
