Led by Jeb Hawkes and Nicholas Blair, they have been recently revealed as the Leviathans, a group Dr. Julia Hoffman describes as a "time-traveling death cult." Barnabas has been acting as their puppet, murdering and causing destruction, and has recently become a vampire again. Now a woman named Nelle Gunston has arrived in town, working for the Leviathans, with the intention of convincing Carolyn Stoddard that she should fall in love with Jeb Hawkes.
