My husband and I were lucky enough to spend the week of Christmas in Los Angeles; while we were there, one of my very dearest friends took us to Dark Delicacies (check it out, horror fans, you won't regret it) and The Iliad, an amazing, sizable, incredibly stocked used bookstore in Burbank. As I perused, imagine my surprise when I encountered this image taped to the wall where the television-specific books were shelved (they have a lovely copy of The Dark Shadows Companion as of this writing for an affordable price, as well as a hardcover of the 1991 retrospective, Dark Shadows Resurrected):
Dark Shadows (1966-1971) was a soap opera with an emphasis on the supernatural that has garnered a cult following in the years since it left the air. The introduction of Barnabas Collins (Jonathan Frid) catapulted the series to enormous success, capturing the public's imagination in a way that continues to endure today. This online fanzine will provide a place for rare photos, articles, stories, artwork, and other multimedia as a tribute to the magic and mystery that is Dark Shadows.

The Tony and Cassandra Mysteries
I opened my birthday present about two weeks early. So sue me. It was worth it.
And I received ... Big Finish's new audio release, The Tony and Cassandra Mysteries, and I'm so freaking thrilled. I'll give y'all a report later (300 minutes!), but I cannot wait ... I was seriously disappointed when they de-Cassandra-fied her at the end of The Devil Cat, so super cool that the powers that be at Big Finish found a way to revive the Tony/Cassandra dynamic, of which I am a fan.
As a special treat, here's a Tony and Cassandra flavored mock-up of a Paperback Library volume that never was. (I played this game a few years ago myself ...)

1968: Strangling Maggie
This looks like it's from the same shoot where Jonathan Frid and KLS look like they're macking all over each other. What a ... twist.

Angelique Curses Barnabas
Katya and I discuss this moment (one of my very favorites in the whole series) and the flappy stick bat that appears immediately after on the latest episode of our podcast, This Place Scares Us. We spend a significant amount of time talking about Laura the Phoenix and House of Dark Shadows. Click here to listen now!
