Dark Shadows (1966-1971) was a soap opera with an emphasis on the supernatural that has garnered a cult following in the years since it left the air. The introduction of Barnabas Collins (Jonathan Frid) catapulted the series to enormous success, capturing the public's imagination in a way that continues to endure today. Dark Shadows 2012
I can't believe that it's been four years since I went to see Tim Burton's Dark Shadows feature the day of my brother-in-law's wedding. I'm actually going to show it during a Tim Burton film study I'll have my advanced theatre class perform next fall; I realize that it's divisive among fans, which is one of the aspects I want my students to consider during their analysis. There's a book of essays about Burton's work that came out this past Christmas that contains an interesting article about the 2012 Dark Shadows that I'm going to require them to read.
