And Jonathan Frid, looking ordinary.
I love this shot; it showed up in the legendary scrapbook belonging to my best friend's mom when I was a kid, created by her from teen mags of the 1960s and shared with me when I was 9 or so, and reminds me of being a kid. It also graced the cover of the first Marilyn Ross DS book devoted to the vampire America loves to hate. How cool is that fake, headless bat flying in the background?
Dark Shadows (1966-1971) was a soap opera with an emphasis on the supernatural that has garnered a cult following in the years since it left the air. The introduction of Barnabas Collins (Jonathan Frid) catapulted the series to enormous success, capturing the public's imagination in a way that continues to endure today. This online fanzine will provide a place for rare photos, articles, stories, artwork, and other multimedia as a tribute to the magic and mystery that is Dark Shadows.

Broody Barnabas
The Dream Curse (in livid color)
As is often the case with Dark Shadows, inconsistencies abound: despite my incredible distaste for much of what happens during 1968 (including the GD Dream Curse, pictured below and improved, marginally, with some rad color effects), it still contains many of my favorite episodes. Plus Cassandra. Y'all know how I go for witches in wigs.

I'm sure I've posted this before, but only because it's such an interesting shot (from that famous staircase pose you've seen a billion times).
